Anne Gournay

Anne Gournay's subject is the distantiation that modern life has operated between people and nature/their nature, and the loneliness and lack of connection stemming from our very urban and cosmopolitan lives. She uses a wide array of printmaking techniques to create a body of work overflowing with contrast. Passionate about photography and charcoal drawings, she navigates between photographic works, traditional etchings, linocuts and screen prints, trying to exploit each medium's specificity to evoke various feelings and atmosphere. Her traditional etchings and photo etching are very atmospheric, while her screenprints and linocuts are more graphic and conceptual.
